Many new Suzuki parents and students have high interest and motivation to begin playing violin. This is a great place to start because it IS exciting to begin lessons! However, it is important to remember that we must also be interested and motivated in committing to the daily learning, listening and practicing on your instrument even when that initial burst of excitement wears off. This is an amazing experience for children and parents as they learn to persevere through challenges and learn to enjoy and have fun along the way!
Having the mindset of long-term commitment (even if you don’t know how long your child will take lessons!) allows your child to have success on the instrument. This will help to ensure that you have a quality experience and make consistent progress. Thinking long-term, while working through small steps, helps us find joy and satisfaction in playing an instrument. It’s how we develop not only excellent musicians with a love for music and their instrument, but a child with a beautiful heart and character. They learn to express themselves through music.
As a teacher, I am committed to helping parents build a strong foundation on which to begin lessons with their child! I want to get to know you and your child so that we can make connections that will help your child grow musically. Prior to beginning lessons, parents get to observe lessons and attend a Parent Course. Click HERE for more information about the Parent Course.
